Deutchland!!!!

We made it here in the Norte Country!!!! God was faithful during the whole 23+ hour trip! Going standby during major flight cancellations across the country was a challenge. Especially trying to sit together. But God intervened (thanks to all the prayers)and we got our flights, and even sat together! We had good flights. Not much turbulence or problems.

We arrived here on Wed @ 11 am. Another answered prayer: we were concerned about all the supplements and vitamins we brought over (enough for 6 months). Germany customs are very strict about vitamins, etc. But..... one of Bruce's suitcases was delayed for 1/2 hour. No one could find it. We prayed, and then it just appeared! By that time, everyone was gone, including the customs control . So we just walked through the area uninspected! PTL! We were met by Andrew, from the college . When we stepped outside, we felt the cold!!! We drove for a little over an hour. As we neared Siegen, it started to snow. Siegen is higher elevation than Frankfurt. We arrived at the college in a winter wonderland! We were shown our cute 1 bedroom apt, right across from the college!!! Originally, we were going to stay about a mile away in another apt. But the people are still living there for another month. So we are much closer. It's a cute newly upgraded place. All tile floors (which I'll have to get used to) and nice and bright and warm. Plus it will be so easy to get together with the students. We're right across from them!

Bruce taught Thursday morning his 2 1/2 hour church history class. Even though he was tired, God gave him the grace to do it!
We met with the staff and lots of students. We will be doing the worship class next week, and working with the students. We'll be developing those who are already leading worship here. There's lots of opportunity here for many things that need to be done.
Another couple here are Mike and Valerie Harrington. I met them in Israel, and they were over the bible college in Jerusalem. They had to leave because they had stayed there too long (7 years). They are working here with the administration paperwork, while Mike is teaching 2 classes. It's nice to be with them again!

The low here has been anywhere from 14-15 F. and the highs in the 20's. Next week is supposed to drop down to a low of 4F.!!! This is all new for me. I've never lived in a climate like this. But it's not bad outside if you dress warm! But inside is another story. We're used to in Seaside having doors and windows open all year. Love the fresh ocean air. But here you keep the windows shut so you don't freeze!! That means lots of dry heated air. We have pots of heated water going to put mist in the air!
Yesterday we went into Siegen to get a few things. They have a store here like home depot. It's even orange and white! We got a broom, shower mat, and little humidifiers that hang on the heaters( heated by hot water). By the way, this place is fully furnished, so we don't have to get much.
Our car will be arriving up north (3 hours) next week. Praying for good dry weather to get it.We don't have the right kind of tires here for snow/ice. I'll be happy to get our music equipment and other things.
We are praising the Lord for His goodness. He is faithful, and we trust Him for all that's in store. We never know what is around the corner, but we know Him, and He is good!! We miss you all, and are a little homesick, but know that God has put us here, and we live to do HIs will!

We're Leaving!!!!

Well, time has come. These last few months seem to have both flown by, and taken forever ; all at the same time. So much has happened, and God has taken care of so many little details.
We have been moved out of our house, and have been staying with Bruce's mom, Mary for the last 2 weeks. Everything is put away in storage, and all the paperwork has been taken care of.
Many dear friends have come alongside of us, to help with so many areas. Cleaning, packing, feeding us, doing errands, storing our car and valuables, our papers, managing our mail and financial matters; and just being wonderful come-alongside friends. Without all the help, we would not be able to do this.
That's just how God works though. We are together united for His purposes and for His glory.

Today Calvary Chapel Monterey prayed over us for both services. It was a wonderful send off. We said goodbye to many friends and loved ones.
We are looking forward to what's ahead now. Monday (tomorrow) we catch the plane and leave at 6:10 a.m. We go to Phoenix, then transfer to Charlotte. We have a 3 hr layover, then go to Frankfurt. It will be a long trip. But God's grace will be with us.
We arrive in Frankfurt on Tuesday morning.
The bible college has already started it's spring semester. They started the first week already. We'll arrive ready to start working. Bruce will be teaching two classes: Church history, and worship.
I'll be leading worship 3x/week. Monday, Wed, and Friday. Our little apartment will be waiting for us. It's part of the bible college, and is about a mile? away. Praise God it will be furnished, so we don't have to bother ourselves right off the bat with details of living. We're excited about working with the students, and are looking forward to all God's going to do.

It's always a bittersweet thing to leave. Leaving our family, friends, church, house, and even our dear dog is sad. Yet moving into what God has planned is fulfilling. Today at communion, I again reflected on how much Jesus gave up for me. How much suffering, loss, and sacrifice He endured, and willingly chose to go through. All because of HIs great love for me. So again, how can I EVER say no to anything He would require?
Nothing compares to the excellency of knowing Him, and pleasing Him.

Our next blog will be in Deutchland. I won't write in German. Even if I wanted to, I don't yet know the language. But.........I will learn.

Our house is rented!!!!

Praise report!!!!! We have our house rented to a single woman from North Carolina. She's in the military, and will be attending Defense Language Institute here in Monterey. Such an answered prayer! No pets, no kids, steady income, loved our home from pics on the internet! And no lapse of income, as she'll be renting it Feb. 1st! Of all the homes she's been looking at for the last two months, only ours was interesting to her. She called our property manager and asked him if she could apply online sight unseen.
God is so faithful, and I think He likes to glorify Himself by being so obviously amazing. Going above and beyond the ordinary.
Things are moving right along! Friends have come over to help pack, clean, and lend a hand wherever they can. We're having our moving sale tomorrow, and it's been raining all week.
But tomorrow? It's supposed to have sun all day. I pray so!!!
God is able to do exceedingly above all that we even ask or think. To Him be all the glory , honor , and praise!!!!
Thankyou all for your coveted and needful prayers. Without them, nothing would happen.

Dear Friends, Family, and Loved Ones!

Praying that God is blessing you, and keeping you in the palm of His hand~
This year is moving quickly, both in our lives, as well as the lives of those
around us. Things are generally just speeding up!
For us, we have just a couple weeks left to get everything done. We'll be
leaving on February 8th. We're having a moving sale on Jan. 22, and 23rd.
After that, we'll finish our cleaning of the house, and be out of it by the 1st.
God has been so faithful to answer so many prayers. We think we have a
renter already. We'll know for sure next week. He's providing help from
others around us in so many ways!
Saturday evening, the 16th, we had our last worship concert before we leave.
It was at Mayflower Presbyterian in Pacific Grove. We had a good turn out,
and the glory of the Lord was so present! His sweet spirit filled the room and
our hearts as well. It will be glorious to do this for all eternity, worshipping our
Lord and King. There's nowhere else I'd rather be, than in His presence.

When we arrive in Germany, Bruce will begin teaching at the bible college.
The semester actually starts Feb. 2nd, but we couldn't leave til the 8th.
So we won't have much time to catch up with rest. Please keep us in prayer
for strength, health, and grace to adjust to everything.

We want to thank all of you who have so generously given towards our ministry.
Without you, none of this would be possible. May God continue to pour out into
your lives, filling you with all that is in Christ.

Happy New Year!

Dear Friends and Loved Ones!

Hoping you all had a wonderful, blessed Christmas with family and friends. We had Jonathan with us this year. The other kids were here at Thanksgiving, and for Christmas, they stayed home, and were with their other families. We had a cozy and warm one, with Jonny and Bruce's mom and siblings. We did something Christmas Day we've always wanted, but never have had the opportunity: we helped out at the community homeless outreach. We served meals, ministered to lonely people, cleaned tables and were so blessed! It was a wonderful experience, and I recommend it highly!
I never stop being amazed and reminded, that Jesus gave up so much to come
here as a baby human, to be born into such darkness . This time of year reminds us of all He did for us. Such great love!
As we look at the coming 2010, we look forward to all that God has in store. We are fervently packing away, cleaning, purging the house, and taking care of LOTS of "busy" ness. There's a lot to do to get ready to live in another country!
Praise report! Our son, Nathan, will be taking our dog to live with him. We are so blessed that Ice will be with our family still. Nate will be living off base, so it will work out. Besides, Icy loves Nate a lot, and they will be good buddies!
Please keep in prayer our house renters. We have yet to secure a tenant. I know God has it covered, but He uses prayer to do it!
We're looking forward to being in Germany. Sometimes this whole adventure seems like a dream. Soon enough it will become a reality! Kindof like when we are with the Lord! As we are here, doing our daily routines, our hearts look forward to being with Him. We are getting ready all our days. And then, before we know, it will happen! We'll be seeing Jesus face to face.
Until then..........our hearts are expectant, and our hands are busy!
The Lord richly bless you, and may this next year, 2010, be the best year yet. May you draw neared to God than before, and look up as we await His return!

New departure date!

Dear Friends,
Well God works in mysterious ways!
Bruce received a call from David Guzik (head of the bible college) and he really wants and needs us there for the spring semester. After praying about it, we feel that we need to go. So we'll be leaving for Germany in February. We have an overwhelming amount of things to do in 45 days, so we really appreciate your prayers. As for our budget, we will go on faith with what we have. We know that God is calling us to this work, and sometimes we have to step out in faith when He calls us to come out of the boat!
We have our home listed with a property manager, and he will be taking care of all that part. So please pray that God will bring in the right person/family.
Also at this point, it looks like we're taking our dog with us. Germany is a very dog friendly place. No one has felt led to take him, so we feel this is the right thing to do.
We will be very busy for the next few weeks, so our time will be very limited for socializing, etc. We appreciate all of you so much, and your prayers mean the world to us!

Merry Christmas!!!!!

Dear Friends and Loved Ones~

As we approach this wonderful Christmas Season, we again remember the most profound sacrifice in all of history. God Himself, sent His only Son from the glory of heaven, down to this earth to reach the heart of man. Because of His sacrifice toleave it all, become one of us, and give His life on the cross for our redemption,we now gain it all. His life, His resources, andHis hope. Like the scripture says, "He became poor. that we may become rich!" 2 Corinthians 8:9

As we look forward to celebrating with our families and friends, let's not forget to look around us as well, and give something of ourselves to make others "rich." Sharing His love to a needyworld, is our call!

We are looking forward with great expectations to what the Lord has for us this new year in Germany! Although it will be a sacrifice to leave everything and everyone we love here, the joy of being used to give to those there is great!

Some people have been asking us questions concerning the date we're leaving, and how the support works.
We are waiting on the lord to bring in the needed monthly support for our living expenses in Germany. While we wait, we continue to share the vision of the ministry with other churches and individuals, and continue praying for all aspects of the ministry. We hope to get the needed support by mid-spring, but regardless, we must leave by June to get things ready for the fall school year.

Monthly support already coming in is going into an account, held by Saving Grace Missions. It will be kept until we leave, and then be used for start up costs, as well as monthly living expenses in Germany,. They would like us to raise 80% of the budget before we leave, so we can focus on our work there, rather than raising support from abroad. Small amounts from faithful donors will keep the work going.

We thank those of you who have already made a committment to support this ministry. We rejoice that God is in control, and may His will be done, and He be glorified!!!

We pray for you, for a wonderful, Spirit-filled Christmas! May His love continue to live in your hearts, and His light shine through!
